How to Install and Run PopForums

Good day!

I have spent two hours deciphering the Installation instructions to no avail!

Here is what I did:
1. Download PopForums8.0.zip.
2. Extract it.
3. Open PopForums.UI as Website using Visual Web Developer 2008 (I am using SQL Express 2008, BTW).
4. Run it.

There. I get this error.

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

What am I doing wrong? Can somebody point me to the right direction? I haven't edited the web.config that comes with the Zip as it contains everything that is stated in the installation instructions.

Re: How to Install and Run PopForums

You need to create the database using the SQL script included in the zip. Then you'll have to set the connection string in web.config to point to that database. If you're not familiar with creating SQL databases, there are many tutorials around the Web. Just be sure in your case to search for SQL Express.
